Baby/Child Dedication:
As a church family, we
urge parents to present
their children before
God in a service of
dedication. This is most
often done within a few
days or weeks of the
child’s birth. However,
children of any age may
be presented in this act
of dedication.
Rightly understood, this
service is really a
dedication of the
parent(s) before God to
rear their child in the
“nurture and admonition
of the Lord”.
We hold such a service
of dedication as a part
of our regular Sunday
morning worship service
as we believe it is
something the whole
church family should
witness and celebrate.
Please call the church
office (686-2485) if you
would like to schedule a
dedication for your
child(ren) or if you
would like to receive
more information.
Communion:
Partaking regularly of
The Lord’s Supper
(Communion) is one of
two ordinances Jesus
instituted in the
church. The other being
Baptism.
The Vineyard of Gillette
celebrates Communion on
the first Sunday of each
month as a part of our
regular Sunday morning
worship.
There are two
requirements for
receiving Communion here
at The Vineyard:
-
You must profess
Jesus Christ as your
Savior and Lord; and
-
You must not take
communion in an
unworthy manner (See
1 Corinthians 11).
Membership, or even
regular attendance, is
not required to receive
Communion here.
Baptism:
Baptism is one of two
ordinances Jesus
instituted in the
church. The other being
the receiving of
Communion.
The Vineyard of Gillette
urges all Believers to
be Baptized in
accordance to the
command of our Lord
Jesus. He set the
example for us in His
own Baptism in the river
Jordan by John the
Baptist.
Here at The Vineyard, we
completely immerse in
water, just as Jesus
was, as the preferred
method. Baptism is not
necessary for salvation,
however, Jesus commands
it for every Believer.
We further hold that
Baptism is for an
individual who is of an
age that permits an
adequate understanding
of what Baptism
symbolizes. Even though
a very young child may
profess Jesus as Savior,
we suggest they attain
the age of 7 before
requesting Baptism.
Finally, we hold that
Baptism is a public,
outward demonstration
(symbolically through
immersion in water) of
an individual’s
identification with
Jesus in His death and
resurrection. Hence, the
one being baptized puts
to death (buries) the
old man and rises in
newness of life in
Christ.
Please call the church
office (686-2485) to
indicate your interest
in being baptized.
